Bike parking at IKEA?

While doing some work on the Red Hook Bike Master Plan yesterday, I took a ride down to Red Hook. As the pictures demonstrate, here is the bike parking situation at the new IKEA:

Remember this just a few years ago? What happened, IKEA? Here is the real story, it was never planned for.

Yes!

I blogged about this here and here.

And the NYT even picked up the story from my blog.
Thanks for posting these photos! It's amazing that not only have they not provided any bicycle parking, but no one seems to be talking about it or calling them on it!

There are a few racks by the park (from where you took the top photo), so it's not quite as bleak as you portray the situation. Still, they have 1400 parking spaces and no proper bike parking, which is a disgrace.

This is awful! I believe the Red Hook Ikea was getting built the same time as the Portland, Oregon store with has (covered) bike parking for about 75 bikes.

They could easily put some bike corrals in their parking lot. That really deplorable they didn't add any bike parking at this store.
